Shaolin kung fu, known as the grandfather of Chinese martial arts, is said to be the first true fighting system intended for self-defense. Developed by the monks of Shaolin Monastery over two thousand years ago, this style of self-defense provides a whole mind and body workout. It emphasizes the practice of long series of movements, called forms. These forms use open hand, animal, and weapons techniques. Kung fu classes also include ancient strength conditioning exercises and self-defense skills.
